Overview
Our client is looking for a dynamic, technically minded person to join their sales team and resell a wide range of fluid control products. The ideal candidate has experience selling steel pipes, fittings, valves and flanges and can confidently assist customers at counter level while converting phone/email inquiries into sales.
Ideal profile:
Counter/internal sales + strong product knowledge (pipes/fittings/valves/flanges) + quick, accurate quoting (Syspro advantageous) + confident customer service + target-driven mindset and tidy admin.
Experience & Requirements
- Grade 12.
- 3+ years’ working experience reselling irrigation fittings, retail pumps, pipes, flanges and valves (fluid control environment).
- Bilingual in English and Afrikaans.
- Computer literate.
- Strong selling and communication skills.
- Stable work record with contactable references.
- Able to work retail hours.
- Experience greeting and assisting customers with product inquiries.
- Comfortable answering calls and converting inquiries into sales.
- Ability to advise on products, solutions and source stock (standard and non-standard).
- Experience processing orders and expediting deliveries/collections.
- Quoting on Syspro (or similar ERP) advantageous.
- Target-driven: monthly sales and GP targets.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Greet walk-in customers and assist with product selection and technical queries.
- Answer incoming calls and convert inquiries into confirmed sales.
- Provide product advice and solutions for pipes, fittings, valves, flanges and related fluid control items.
- Source and confirm stock availability (standard and non-standard items) and arrange alternatives where needed.
- Process customer orders and coordinate delivery/collection instructions.
- Generate and send quotations via Syspro (or similar system) and follow up to close.
- Develop new opportunities through cold calling and proactive outreach.
- Ensure monthly sales and GP targets are achieved through consistent pipeline activity.
- Handle administrative duties accurately and timeously.
- Liaise with the warehouse manager regarding picking, dispatch and deliveries.
