Overview
A busy steel service centre requires an experienced Draughtsperson to join a dynamic drawing office. You will produce drawings for laser/plasma/profile cutting, support internal sales with accurate quoting and estimations, and assist the workshop by ensuring drawings, nesting and documentation are correct and traceable.
Ideal profile:
Steel service centre draughting (3–5 years) + AutoCAD + SigmaNest (non-negotiable) + confident nesting and flat development + accuracy under pressure + strong communication with sales, customers and the workshop.
Experience & Requirements
- Grade 12 / equivalent.
- Completed draughting certificate / diploma.
- 3–5 years as a draughtsperson in a steel service centre.
- MS Office, AutoCAD & SigmaNest (essential).
- Technically minded and able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Own transport; East Rand resident preferred.
- Stable work record with contactable references.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Draw parts for laser, plasma and profile cutting machines.
- Prepare chamfer, drilling, bending and rolling drawings as required.
- Quote accurately from drawings and assist with cutting selections.
- Develop flat drawings and nest parts on SigmaNest for optimal material utilisation.
- Support cost-effective estimations and assist internal sales and external reps with technical inputs.
- Customer liaison and project advice; perform material take-offs where required.
- Expedite orders with the workshop and ensure QA/traceability requirements are met.
