Overview

Our client, a local distributor of steel products based in Alberton, is looking for an experienced Warehouse Manager to oversee a busy steel warehouse.

The ideal candidate must have strong warehouse management experience within a steel or engineering environment, with the ability to identify mild steel products, manage stock control, lead staff effectively and oversee receiving, warehousing, distribution and dispatch operations.

Ideal profile:

A hands-on and energetic Warehouse Manager with strong leadership ability, steel product knowledge, stock control experience and the confidence to manage a busy warehouse team effectively.

Minimum Requirements

Grade 12 or equivalent.
10 or more years’ experience as a Warehouse Manager in a steel or engineering environment.
Able to identify mild steel products.
Computer literate.
Hands-on and energetic.
Strong management skills.
Must have a strong personality and be able to lead and manage a team effectively.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

Strategically manage the warehouse in compliance with company policies and vision.
Supervise warehouse staff.
Oversee receiving, warehousing, distribution and maintenance operations.
Set up warehouse layout and ensure efficient space utilisation.
Initiate, coordinate and enforce optimal operational policies and procedures.
Manage stock control.
Liaise with clients, suppliers and transport companies.
Produce reports and statistics regularly, including IN/OUT status reports and dead stock reports.
Process orders and plan the dispatching of products.
Monitor space and track stock levels.
Set aside storage areas for new stock.
Participate in all branch stock takes.
Complete daily, weekly and monthly cycle counts.
