Overview
Our client, a well-established company in the steel industry, is looking for an experienced Senior Internal Sales / Order Controller to join their team on the East Rand.
This role is not focused on cold calling or new business development. The position is more order-control driven and requires someone who is strong with processing customer orders, managing order flow, maintaining forecasts, following up on stock and deliveries, and ensuring clients receive accurate feedback.
The ideal candidate must come from a steel background, as strong product knowledge and industry experience are essential for this role.
Ideal profile:
A reliable and accurate steel industry Order Controller or Senior Internal Salesperson with strong order processing, forecast maintenance, stock follow-up, dispatch coordination, Syspro, Excel and customer service experience.
Minimum Requirements
- At least 5 years’ internal sales, order control or sales administration experience.
- Strong knowledge of steel products and order processing procedures.
- Experience maintaining customer forecasts and monitoring order requirements.
- Able to liaise with customers, production, dispatch and stock teams.
- Strong administrative skills and attention to detail.
- Computer literate, with good MS Excel skills.
- Syspro experience would be advantageous.
- Able to work under pressure and manage multiple orders at once.
- Excellent communication and follow-up skills.
- Must be reliable, accurate and customer-service driven.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Process customer orders accurately and efficiently.
- Maintain and update customer forecasts.
- Follow up on stock availability, lead times, production and deliveries.
- Liaise with customers regarding order progress and requirements.
- Coordinate with internal departments to ensure orders are completed on time.
- Handle customer queries and provide accurate feedback.
- Assist with pricing, quotations and sales-related administration.
- Ensure all order documentation is completed correctly.
