Overview
We’re hiring a Sales Manager with 5+ years’ proven experience managing a sales team in the industrial sector (mild steel and related products). You’ll lead, coach, and scale a high-performance team, drive key accounts and new business, and own the sales number.
Ideal profile:
Hands-on sales leader + technical product mix experience + strong pipeline discipline + disciplined pricing/GP management.
Minimum Requirements
- 5+ years as a Sales Manager (not just a senior representative) in industrial/B2B.
- Hands-on team management (hiring, coaching, performance management).
- Sector experience in steel or tube, pipes & fittings/valves, or industrial hardware (technical product mix).
- Proven track record in new business development and key account growth.
- Solid forecasting and pipeline management (CRM, Excel/Google Sheets).
- Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel to customers.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Lead and coach a team of internal/external reps through targets, one-on-ones, ride-alongs, and training.
- Manage key accounts: protect and grow strategic customers; negotiate pricing and terms.
- Develop new business by opening targeted accounts.
- Provide technical sales support: specify correct products (mild steel and related products) and ensure compliance with standards/specifications.
- Manage pricing and gross profit: oversee quotes, discount discipline, and minimum GP/markup thresholds.
- Develop territory and channel strategies for distributors, contractors, consulting engineers, and end users.
- Collaborate with purchasing, operations, and finance on stock, lead times, credit limits, and service levels.
- Maintain CRM discipline: accurate records of visits, opportunities, quotes, and conversion rates.
- Gather market intelligence: track competitor activity, ROE impacts, and commodity price shifts.
KPIs
- Monthly order intake and sales versus budget.
- Gross margin and discount discipline.
- New accounts opened and key account growth.
- Quote win rate and pipeline coverage.
- Activity and visit reports completed on time.
