Overview

Our client, a specialist in cut-to-size steel, is seeking a senior Sales Manager who knows the steel service centre industry inside out.

This role requires a strong, experienced and assertive sales leader who understands steel, commands respect and can confidently manage both customers and internal teams.

This position is strictly for candidates currently or previously employed in a steel service centre. Strong cut-to-size, profiling, technical drawing, pricing, margin control and project sales experience is essential.

Ideal profile:

A senior, commercially sharp Sales Manager from a steel service centre background with strong cut-to-size/profiling sales, laser and plasma cutting knowledge, technical drawing ability, margin control and internal sales team leadership experience.

Minimum Requirements

8+ years’ experience in a steel service centre environment.
Proven background in cut-to-size and profiling sales.
Solid understanding of plasma and laser cutting processes / cut-to-size work.
Strong knowledge of steel grades and applications.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
Senior / management-level sales experience.
Strong, confident, decisive and commercially sharp personality.
Strong negotiation, pricing and margin control skills.
Experience managing internal sales teams.
Confident dealing with large customers, fabricators and project work.
Commercially astute with the ability to drive profitability and growth.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

Lead and manage the sales function for the business.
Develop and execute sales strategies and business plans.
Manage and mentor the internal sales team.
Engage directly with customers on fabrication and profiling projects.
Review drawings, scope projects, quote accurately and project-manage orders.
Work closely with operations and dispatch to ensure on-time delivery.
Maintain pricing discipline, margins and customer satisfaction.
Report performance, forecasts and results to senior management.
