Overview

Our client is looking for a Junior Transport Supervisor to oversee the receiving and dispatching function within a busy steel warehouse on the East Rand.

This role would suit an energetic, physically fit candidate who is comfortable working on their feet, assisting with stock movement, supervising drivers, supporting route planning and ensuring stock is received and dispatched correctly.

Ideal profile:

A hands-on warehouse and transport supervisor with steel or engineering warehouse exposure, route planning ability, driver supervision experience and strong attention to stock accuracy.

Minimum Requirements

3 or more years’ recent working experience in a steel or engineering warehouse would be an advantage.
Computer literate.
Experience working with mild steel products, including tubing, sections, sheets and plates, would be an advantage.
Route planning experience.
Valid driver’s licence and reliable transport.
Energetic, physically fit and able to work on your feet.
Of sober habits.
Able to work retail hours, including Saturdays and public holidays from 08:00 to 13:00 on a roster basis.
Bilingual in English and Afrikaans.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

Ensure that the correct stock is received and dispatched.
Perform general housekeeping duties and ensure that the warehouse is kept neat and tidy.
Work closely with the Warehouse Manager.
Ensure truck maintenance is up to date, including tyres, brake pads, batteries and related checks.
Assist and deal with collecting customers.
Manage truck planning and delivery routes.
Supervise drivers.
Assist the sales team where required.
Pick and pack stock accurately.
Assist with loading of trucks.
Perform daily and weekly stock counts.
