Overview

Our client is looking for a dynamic and driven External Sales Representative to join their growing sales team in Sandton.

The ideal candidate must come from either the steel industry or an industrial hardware background, including nuts, bolts, fasteners, tools or related products. This role requires someone who is hungry for sales, confident with business development and able to grow strong customer accounts.

Ideal profile:

A target-driven External Sales Representative with steel, tube or industrial hardware experience, strong new business development ability, confident negotiation skills and a proven record calling on merchants, retailers, engineering companies and manufacturing customers.

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum 4+ years’ external sales experience.
  • Proven background in steel, tube, industrial hardware, nuts and bolts, fasteners, tools or related products.
  • Experience calling on steel merchants, hardware retailers, engineering companies and manufacturing industries.
  • Strong sales, negotiation and relationship-building skills.
  • Self-motivated, target-driven and able to work independently.
  • Strong personality with a confident and professional approach.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Must reside in or around Sandton.
  • Valid driver’s licence essential.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Actively source new business and grow existing accounts.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships.
  • Conduct external client visits and sales calls.
  • Prepare and follow up on quotations and customer enquiries.
  • Negotiate pricing and close deals effectively.
  • Identify new opportunities within the market.
  • Achieve and exceed monthly sales targets.
  • Provide excellent after-sales service and support.
  • Work closely with internal sales and management teams.
  • Monitor competitor activity and market trends within the steel and industrial hardware sectors.
