Overview
A busy steel and hardware distributor with branches throughout Gauteng is looking to employ energetic and outgoing counter sales staff to assist customers with product selections, convert enquiries into orders, and support store sales performance.
Ideal profile:
Strong steel/tube + industrial hardware product knowledge + confident customer service + fast quoting and order processing.
Experience & Requirements
- 2 years’ experience selling steel and industrial hardware products is essential and not negotiable.
- Computer literate.
- Syspro experience will be an advantage.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Greet customers and assist with all enquiries.
- Answer incoming calls and convert enquiries into sales.
- Assist with product solutions and sourcing stock (standard and non-standard).
- Process customer orders and expedite deliveries or collection instructions.
- Provide quotations to clients (Syspro where applicable).
- Maintain daily upkeep of backorders and release stock for clients.
- Advise customers on stock availability and lead times.
- Develop new sales opportunities through cold calls.
- Stay updated on product trends and understand product applications.
- Ensure monthly sales and GP targets are achieved.
- Provide after-sales follow-up to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Handle admin duties and liaise with the warehouse regarding deliveries.
- Coordinate with external sales staff on customer visits and provide leads where required.
