Overview

A local supplier of mild steel and industrial hardware products is looking for an experienced Branch Manager to oversee the day-to-day running of a busy trading branch in Pinetown.

This role requires a strong, hands-on manager with steel, tube and industrial hardware knowledge, solid retail and branch operations experience, and the ability to lead staff, grow sales, manage stock, control debtors and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction.

Ideal profile:

A commercially strong Branch Manager with steel and industrial hardware experience, strong leadership ability, retail trading knowledge, branch operations experience, stock/debtors control and a hands-on approach to sales growth.

Minimum Requirements

  • 10 or more years’ experience in a management position.
  • Experience and knowledge of steel and tube, industrial hardware and related products is essential.
  • Understanding of retail processes and procedures.
  • Strategic thinking and planning skills.
  • Must be able to work in a pressurised environment.
  • Strong personality with the ability to lead and manage a team effectively.
  • Computer literate.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Manage and oversee the day-to-day running of the branch.
  • Direct all operational aspects, including distribution, warehousing, transport, customer service, human resources, administration and sales.
  • Assess local market conditions and identify current and prospective sales opportunities.
  • Develop forecasts, financial objectives and business plans.
  • Manage branch budgets and allocate funds appropriately.
  • Identify areas for improvement and propose corrective actions to address challenges and support growth opportunities.
  • Network to improve the presence and reputation of the branch and company.
  • Stay abreast of competing markets and provide reports on market movement.
  • Manage staff and foster a positive branch environment.
  • Control branch debtors and ensure proper stock management.
  • Maintain customer satisfaction and ensure successful branch operations.
  • Implement strategies that increase productivity and enable sales target achievement.
  • Take a hands-on approach and support the expansion and success of the business.
